On October 3, the twentieth anniversary of the beatification of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, the priests of the ecclesiastical territory of Zagreb made a pilgrimage to the parish of the Most Holy Trinity in Krašić, the birthplace of the beatus. Mass was led by the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, in concelebration with the bishops and priests of the Metropolitan Archdiocese.
The twentieth anniversary of the beatification of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac was commemorated on October 3 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, led by the General Secretary of the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union, Fr. Olivier Poquillon, OP, in concelebration with Fr. Bernard Senelle, OP.
Prior to the encounter, there was a Eucharistic Vigil, entitled the March of Light, in the ancient shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Solin. In the sermon, Bishop Mate Uzinić of Dubrovnik, President of the Council of the Croatian Conference of Bishops for Life and the Family, spoke about self-giving as the key word for understanding the logic of the Beatitudes but also for understanding "how, by living in accordance with that logic, we can make the data entered on our Christian and family ID correspond to reality."
The main Eucharistic celebration of the Third National Encounter of Croatian Catholic Families was held at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island in Solin, led by Archbishop Marin Barišić, who said: "The family must not have opposition!" The Fourth National Encounter of Croatian Catholic Families in 2021 will be held in Ludbreg.
In a statement issued to Croatian Catholic Radio, Archbishop Đuro Hranić emphasized that the Croatian national soccer team provided a powerful lesson: when we are united, when we know how to be humble, when we do not argue, when we support each other, there is much that we can do together and there are such riches concealed in our people, in the Croatian citizens. This encourages us not to wait for ideal conditions but, with effort and diligence, to create a new atmosphere and be a wholesome alternative.
Archbishop Marin Barišić of Split-Makarska commented on Croatian Catholic Radio about the Croatian national soccer team's silver medal at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, and the joy and pride felt throughout Croatia.
