The President of the Croatian Conference of Bishops encouraged participation in the Second Encounter of Croatian Catholic Families.

"Now no one has the right to wash his hands as Pilate did, especially anyone who has not done what was required. The state authorities must block attempts to resolve this issue in a merely cosmetic manner because every time a problem is swept under the rug, new difficulties and tensions are created, which threaten the civil peace."

In addition to the central topic of ecumenism in the territory of this ecclesiastical province, the bishops discussed pastoral responses to the serious economic and demographic situations in Slavonia.

"You are a blessing to the Church and nation in Croatia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. God is counting on you and the people need you," said the main celebrant of the Eucharist, Cardinal Bozanić. The Pope's greetings and blessing were conveyed by Nuncio D'Errico
