"The Church, if it wants to remain faithful to its mission, must not be silent, must not give in to the temptations of interest and compromise. Like a prophet, it must stand on the side of truth, regardless of the price it will have to pay," said Bishop Egidije Živković at the commemoration in Udbina.

Mufti Hasanović and Archbishop D'Errico agreed that cooperation between the two great religions must be built upon what they have in common, rather than upon differences.

The Bishops of both Churches encourage all church, state and civil institutions at all levels to work tirelessly to eliminate the consequences of war, in order to alleviate the suffering of all the afflicted. They support all efforts concerning the return of all refugees and displaced persons to their homes and the exercise of their human and religious rights.
