Archbishop Srakić announced that the bishops would devote particular attention to preparations for the accession of Croatia to the European Union and, among other things, discuss the topic of "The Believer before the Challenges of the Plural (Permissive) Society."

The history of the Homeland War and its victims, the price of our freedom, must not be consigned to oblivion. In a society prone to forgetfulness and concealing the truth, we need to renew remembrance lest we lose our future, said Cardinal Bozanić.

Contemplating the models of the holy priests, participants in the passion of Christ in the most profound manner, we think today about our mission and the demands of recent times when there has been no dearth of attempts by some new tyrants, whose prisons have walls and dungeons that are more difficult to recognize, to suffocate the Church amidst ruins and dust, said Cardinal Bozanić to the priests.
