Meeting between Cardinal Bozanić and Serbian Orthodox Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana

The Cardinal and Metropolitan urge the faithful to pray for peace, especially for the Christians suffering in Syria and Iraq, and those in authority to do everything in their power to avoid the further suffering of the population.
Zagreb, (IKA) – On August 18, the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, received Serbian Orthodox Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana at his residence, as reported by the Press Office of the Archdiocese of Zagreb. Also attending this first meeting between Cardinal Bozanić and Metropolitan Porfirije were Abbot Danilo Ljubotina and the Chancellor of the Archdiocesan See, Msgr. Stjepan Večković.
Cardinal Bozanić and Metropolitan Porfirije engaged in a prolonged and cordial conversation on the current circumstances of the ecclesial life and society in Croatia. Commenting on the conflicts in Ukraine, the Near East and Iraq, the cardinal and metropolitan urged the faithful of the Catholic Church and Serbian Orthodox Church to pray for peace, especially for the Christians who are suffering in Syria and Iraq, and those in authority to do everything in their power to avoid the further suffering of the population. At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed willingness for further meetings and joint initiatives.
