This statement is written on the occasion of the national referendum to define marriage in Croatia as the union of man and woman. This
definition of marriage is fully compatible and consistent with the
teachings of the Jewish religion. In this context we fully support the
civil initiative “On behalf of the family” which launched the
referendum.
We are also very disturbed at reports that some have compared this
pro-marriage initiative with the Nazi regime and the ideology of
fascism. We consider these statements to be inappropriate and insulting to the memory of millions of innocent victims.
