Cardinal Bozanić to Present the Pope with a Penkala Fountain Pen

Zagreb, (IKA) – During the forthcoming visit by Pope Benedict XVI to Croatia, on Sunday, June 5, the Archbishop of Zagreb, Josip Cardinal Bozanić, will present the Pope with a personalized gift – a fountain pen, as reported by papa.hr. On the occasion of the Pope’s visit to the Residence of the Archbishop in Zagreb, the Pope will write an entry in the guest book with one of two identical personalized Penkala fountain pens, one of which will remain as a memento at the Residence of the Archbishop and the other will be given to the Pope as a personal gift.
This special Penkala fountain pen, an original Croatian product with a commemorative case in the colors of the Vatican flag, will become a treasured object of Croatian history. It was fashioned by hand in the traditional manner and has a lifetime guarantee, noted the manufacturer, TOZ Penkala d.d. Zagreb.
The case is covered in white leather and embossed in gold with the inscription: BENEDICTUS PP. XVI in Latin script and Croatian Glagolitic script. The inside of the case is lined in yellow silk and has a small plaque engraved with the date and place of the visit, together with a personal message from Cardinal Bozanić to the Holy Father: Scribere ausus est. (s. Augustinus) – To Write is to Dare (St. Augustine).
