Zagreb
Zagreb, (IKA) – The Office of the Croatian Conference of Bishops for Young People and the Commission for the Pastoral Ministry to Young People of the Zagreb Archdiocese have prepared a varied program prior to the Youth Prayer Vigil with the Pope on June 4, as published at www.pastoralmladih.hr.
A special program, enhanced with song and dance, will begin at 11 a.m. at Zrinski Square (Zrinjevac). In addition to the “Twelve Apostles” and the “Croatian Saints and Beati,” who will speak about their lives until 2 p.m., the young people will be able to send the Pope messages or drawings.
The Preliminary Program at Ban Josip Jelačić Square begins at 4:30 p.m. The Archdiocesan Youth Choir will sing together with young people from Bizovac, Vukovar and Subotica, united under the name of “Fisherman’s Net.” Several ombudsmen for pastoral ministry to the young will perform the song “Lead Me,” which they also performed at the Easter Festival. A film will be shown about previous Encounters of Croatian Catholic Youth, with clips of memorable moments and the hymns of the encounters.
Young persons from Split have prepared a short film of welcome to the Pope, and young persons from the Diocese of Krk will entertain those present with a biblical dance. Fra Ivan Matić and Don Ivan Filipović from Community Cenacolo will also participate in the program.
After young people in national costumes from all parts of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina bring the painting Our Lady of the Stone Gates to the altar, there will be a countdown to the arrival of the Popemobile from the Croatian National Theater to the Ban Josip Jelačić Square at approximately 7:30 p.m. Zagreb Salesian Youth have created the choreography for the official song for the encounter with the Pope – “Together in Christ,” so that all the young people will be dancing together in front of the Pope.
