Biskup Košić Receives Rabbi Meir Lau

The bishop acquainted the rabbi with the Blessed Stepinac's intercession on behalf of the Jews during World War II and efforts by Cardinal Šeper regarding relations between Catholics and Jews
Zagreb, (IKA) – On Monday, December 10, Msgr. Vlado Košić, auxiliary bishop of Zagreb and president of the Commission for Ecumenism and Dialogue of the Zagreb Archdiocese, received Rabbi Meir Lau, chief rabbi of Tel Aviv, Israel, on behalf of Archbishop Cardinal Josip Bozanić of Zagreb, according to a statement issued by the Public Relations Office of the Zagreb Archdiocese.
The meeting was also attended by the secretary of the chief rabbi, Rabbi Itzhak Shalom Ohana, and the secretary of the Commission for Ecumenism and Dialogue of the Zagreb Archdiocese, Dr. Zvonimir Kurečić.
During the course of the meeting, Bishop Košić and Rabbi Lau spoke of important moments that had contributed to dialogue between the two religions. There was particular mention of the contribution by Pope John Paul II to inter-religious dialogue. Msgr. Košić acquainted Rabbi Lau with the activities of the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac and his intercession for Jews during World War II, as well as efforts by Cardinal Franjo Šeper regarding relations between Catholics and Jews.
