Exhibition by Ante Starčević Commemorating Fifty Years of Artistic Activity

Zagreb (IKA) – On February 7, 2006, the distinguished Croatian artist Ante Starčević commemorated fifty years of professional artistic activity with an exhibition of his sculptures and paintings at the Hrvatsko Slovo Gallery in Zagreb. The exhibition was opened on behalf of Hrvatsko Slovo by Stjepan Šešelj, after which Višnja Slavica Gabout presented a critical review of the artist’s career and the artist spoke briefly about his life.
Ante Starčević is one of the very few Croatian artists (including Dulčić, Šulentić, Bulić and later Botteri-Dini) to have devoted much of his opus to sacral art during the communist regime of the second half of the 20th century. His monuments, sculptures, altars, mosaics, crucifixes, busts and medallions adorn churches throughout Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
