Ten years of Pogled, a Catholic Magazine for Young People

Zagreb (IKA) – Pogled, a Catholic magazine for young people, is celebrating its tenth anniversary of publication. The magazine began as the bulletin Pokret mladih katolika – Pomak and grew into a modern monthly magazine for young people that is printed in full color for the jubilee issue. The first issue of Pomak was published on May 27, 1990. Since Christmas 1995, the magazine has been issued monthly. The first editor-in-chief of the magazine was Nevenka Gašparović, then a journalist for IKA-Zagreb and now a journalist for Croatian Catholic Radio. The current editor, Davorka Gašparović, points out the following in the introduction to the jubilee issue: “Pogled wants to be a little light in your life, to remind you of those who have been forgotten, to be a kind word for everyone, to speak about all the good things that are happening that the other media do not report, to strengthen hope and faith that with God’s help we can change things for the better, starting, of course, with ourselves!” Pogled presents topics touching all the areas of human life from the Christian point of view in a manner that appeals to young people.
The jubilee issue of Pogled includes a retrospective of topics and interviews from the past ten years, including Cardinals Franjo Kuharić and Josip Bozanić, as well as other distinguished persons from Church and public life. In addition to an interview with Fr. Mijo Nikić, the jubilee issue of the magazine also features several other articles of interest to young persons on the Church, questions about everyday life, music, computers and sports.
