From the Church and national aspects, the question of the family is of paramount importance at this historical moment, stressed Archbishop Prenđa at a Mass conducted in the parish where the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac was born and died.
Krašić (IKA) – On February 10 of this year in Krašić, the parish in which the Blessed Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac was born and where his martyrdom came to an end on February 10, 1960, a commemoration of the Feast of the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac was held. On the forty-fifth anniversary of the death of the beatus, Archbishop Ivan Prenđa of Zadar celebrated Mass in the Krašić church.
Stressing that the Church and national aspects of the question of the family are of paramount importance at this historical moment, for both the Croatian nation and the Church, Archbishop Prenđa recalled the words of the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac: “Since the family is the foundation of human society, it is necessary to foster its component parts: religious, moral, child raising, health and social.”
Explaining that the future of the state of the Croatian family are of crucial importance for our existence, Archbishop Prenđa said that the legislation of the Croatian state, inherited from the past, and a good part of that which is currently being prepared, is not favorable for life and the family.
The archbishop of Zadar spoke about the seriousness of the questions of divorce, abortion, medically assisted fertilization and family legislation that provides too few benefits to the family that accepts and preserves life. It is not suitable for a Catholic to accept the truths of faith selectively and partially, and to incline toward teachings outside of Christian circles, permeated with subjectivity and sometimes anarchy in such important questions such as the family, life and the moral principals safeguarding.
