Cardinal Bozanić’s Christmas Letter to Families
Zagreb (IKA) (IKA )
The good of the family is necessarily linked to good of the Church and the general good of the society
Zagreb (IKA) – In the Christmas letter that priests will deliver to families when they come to bless homes, the archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, pointed out that Christmas is a family holy day in a special sense because God, in choosing a modest family for the descent of his Son among us, forever designated the family as the privileged place for the birth, growth, upbringing and maturation of a human being; a privileged place of human community. Therefore, the cardinal notes that the good of the family is necessarily linked to good of the Church and the general good of the society. In the letter, the cardinal informed families about the preparations for the Second Synod of the Zagreb Archdiocese, pointing out that it would devote particular attention to questions in connection with the family. The cardinal urged the family to include the preparations for the Synod in their prayers and to contemplate the local Church. He conveyed the message that all contributions, even the smallest, of prayers, proposals, critiques, discussions, encouragement and cooperation, are all preparations for the Synod, are all for the strengthening of church life and first of all contributing to our Christian life at a time of new challenges.
