Marija Bistrica, May 16, 2003 (IKA) — At the national shrine of Our Lady of Bistrica in Marija Bistrica, a statue of the Holy Father John Paul II was installed on Friday, May 16, 2003, at the open-air Church of the Blessed Alojzije Stepinac. The stonecutting was by the Jerbić firm of Sveta Nedjelja and the statue of the Holy Father is the work of the academic sculptor Zlatko Čular. The statue of the Holy Father will be unveiled on May 18, the Pope’s birthday, with a blessing and Mass at the open-air church. There will also be an exhibition showing how the statue was made in the shrine gallery.
