Cardinal Vinko Puljić of Sarajevo chosen as the new president of the Interreligious Council of Bosnia-Herzegovina

Sarajevo, June 22, 1999 (IKA) – Archbishop Cardinal Vinko Puljic of Sarajevo will be the president of the Interreligious Council of Bosnia-Herzegovina starting this summer. He was chosen for this position by a consensus at the regular session of the Interreligious Council of Bosnia-Herzegovina which was held at the Islamic Community Center in Sarajevo and attended by the reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community, Dr. Mustafa ef. Ceric; the metropolitan of Dabar-Bosnia, Nikolaj Mrdja; the president of the Jewish Community in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Jakob Finci; and members of the coordinating committee. Dr. Ceric, who hosted the meeting, thanked Jakob Finci for having performed this duty for nearly two years. Cardinal Puljic expressed gratitude for the expression of confidence in him.
In mid September, the Council will prepare a program to be broadcast by all the television stations in Bosnia-Herzegovina that will present the fundamental concept of the Interreligious Council of Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as the first edition of a glossary of religious terminology and a new radio project by the Interreligious Council for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
