A special one-day session of the Croatian Conference of Bishops was held on March 2

Zagreb, March 3, 1999 (IKA) – A special one-day session of the Croatian Conference of Bishops was held on March 2 at the Palace of the Archbishop in Zagreb. Archbishop Josip Bozanić of Zagreb, president of the Croatian Conference of Bishops, was presiding. The session was also attended by the apostolic nuncio in the Republic of Croatia, Archbishop Giulio Einaudi. Following the session, the Press Office of the Croatian Conference of Bishops issued a statement that emphasized the following: “The main topic of the special session of the Croatian Conference of Bishops was final preparations for the “ad limina apostolorum” visit by the Croatian Conference of Bishops to the Holy Father. The bishops confirmed detailed plans for their meeting with the Holy Father, visits to congregations and other Vatican institutions. At the session, the bishops also discussed Church media. Bishop Marko Culej of Varaždin requested clarification of the duties of the head of the Council of the Croatian Conference of Bishops for the Mass Media, and the bishops chose Auxiliary Bishop Vlado Košić of Zagreb for this position. Bishop Marko Culej informed the bishops about the initiatives of the Committee of the Croatian Conference of Bishops for the Great Jubilee 2000 during the Year of God the Father. The preparations and concrete initiatives of this committee will be discussed in more detail at the next plenary session of the Croatian Conference of Bishops, to be held from April 13 to 15 of this year.” At the session, the bishops approved a document issued by the Justitia et Pax Commission of the Croatian Conference of Bishops entitled “How to Stop the Spread of Drugs in Croatia,” which was presented to the public on March 3, according to the Press Office of the Croatian Conference of Bishops.
