Croatian society of catholic businessmen established

Zagreb, 15. 10. 1996. (IKA) – “Gathering as Catholic businessmen, we intend to bring not only our business in harmony with our conscience, but also, first of all, we want to enrich the modern development of Croatian economy and the entire Croatian society with appropriate Catholic experience. We are specially convinced that it is possible to develop healthy and perspective economical relations without going back to the unscrupulous time of primary capital accumulation and that it is possible to create fortune without making most people poor. Wealthy Croats will create wealthy Croatia in which the poor need not to curse it” , dr. Vladimir Mrčela initiator of the society emphasized in his opening speech at the establishing conference of the Society of Croatian Businessmen, in Zagreb, 11th October. Several spiritual renewals proceeded to the Society#!s establishment. President of Initiators Committee dr. Vladimir Mrčela opened the meeting and had an opening speech on goals of the Society establishment. Representatives of similar societies from Germany and Slovakia, respectable persons from Church, among whom the director of Croatian Body of Believers in abroad Msgr. Vladimir Stanković, head of Press Office of Croatian Bishops Conference father Ilija Živković, chief editor of Catholic Press Agency in Croatia don Živko Kustić and president of Croatian Society of Catholic Journalists dr. Mirko Mataušić and others participated the meeting. President of the Council for laic of Croatian Bishops Conference Krk bishop Josip Bozanić addressed a greeting letter to the participants, emphasizing his joy that Church in Croatia starts to study and to live according the principles of Catholic social teaching. According to the statute of Catholic Businessmen Society the aim of the society is to help the establishing and realization of just relations at society and economy. The Society bases its activity on the principles of Catholic social teaching. The Society will make effort in permanent education of its members on ecclesiastic science and economy. It will cooperate with similar Catholic businessmen societies in Europe and in World, soon.
