A liturgical guide for Split and Solin has been printed

The Split-Makarska Diocese has printed a guide for the liturgical celebrations to be held with the Holy Father John Paul II in Split and Solin

Split, September 26, 1998 (IKA) — The Split-Makarska Diocese has printed a guide for the liturgical celebrations to be held with the Holy Father John Paul II in Split and Solin on October 4. An introduction was written by Archbishop Ante Jurić and Auxiliary Bishop Marin Barišić of Split-Makarska, entitled “Blessed is He Who Comes in the Name of the Lord.” The first section of the guide includes the schedule of the Pope#!s visits to Zagreb, Marija Bistrica, Split and Solin; part of the homily delivered by the Holy Father in 1994 at the Zagreb Hippodrome and a historical section about Solin and Split entitled “At the Roots of Christianity.” The second section of the guide is devoted the liturgical celebrations in njan and Solin.
The program in njan will begin at 6:30 a.m. with morning prayer. At 7:00 a.m., a meditative Rosary with Marian hymns and texts will be led by nuns and the laity.
At 7:40 a.m., the dioceses of the Split Metropolitan Archdiocese will present programs, starting with the Diocese of Hvar, followed by Šibenik, Dubrovnik and Kotor. A program entitled “Seventeen Stations of the Way of Faith” by the Split-Makarska Archdiocese will begin at 9 a.m. The Holy Father will be awaited in song and prayer. Singing will be led by choirs under the direction of Maestro Šime Marović, Fra Stipica Grgat and Sister Mirta Škopljanac-Mačin with the Wind Orchestra of the Croatian National Theater of Split. The celebration of the Mass will begin at 10:45 a.m.
In Solin, common prayer will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a musical-meditative program. The musical portion of the program will be led by young people from the Split parish of the Holy Family, members of the MI Croatian Cultural Society of Split and Čedo Antolić of Zagreb. The master-of-ceremonies will be the parish priest from the Split Cathedral Parish of St. Peter, Don Bo o Delić. Young people will await the Holy Father with the hymn Krist jednom stade na alu [Christ Once Stood on the Shore]. During the encounter, excerpts from the operetta Narod sv. Petra [The People of St. Peter] will be performed by the Kraljica Jelena Choir composed of singers from parish choirs. Also appearing in the program will be members of the Salona Cultural Artistic Society and the Tamburitza Orchestra of Split Seminarians accompanied on the organ by Sister Arsenija Vidović and conducted by Dr. Mirko Mikelić. The encounter will begin at 5:30 p.m.
