Bishop Komarica received the international community#!s high representatives for the realization of Dayton agreements

Banja Luka, 24. 5. 1996. (IKA) – Bishop Franjo Komarica has received, at bishop#!s residence in Banja Luka, the representative of the Center for Human Rights in Geneva Roman Wieruszewski, on Thursday, 23rd May. Talking with the respective guest, bishop Komarica emphasized the peaceful behavior of Catholics at his diocese and his persistent demands to domestic and foreign politicians for reestablishment of fundamental human rights, taken unjustly during the war, first of all the right on safe living and protected property, the right to have a home and homeland, the right on equality. Bishop asked his guest to intercede more resolutely in deliberating of absolutely innocent imprisoned parish priest Tomislav Matanoviæ and his parents from Prijedor. Wieruszewski promised that he will personally intercede for imprisoned parish priest and he also announced that and office of the Center for Human Rights will be opened in Banja Luka, soon, and that will contribute to normalization of life in Banja Luka region. The same day, bishop Komarica received the International Community high representative#!s deputy Michael Steiner and his deputy Christian Klages. They informed the bishop about the efforts of International Community to make progress in the realization of Dayton agreement more efficiently. Bishop expressed his regret because of the recognized lack of political will by most influent European and American politicians concerning the just solution for Bosnia and Herzegovina tragedy. They were talking about providing the possibility for return of those refugees who want to come back to their homes. Guests expressed their optimism in solving the problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina and promised to bishop that they will support his peacemaking efforts.
