Tenth plenar Session of Croatian Bishops Conference, with Zagreb Archbishop Franjo Cardinal Kuharić as chairman, started at Archbishop#!s residence in Zagreb

Zagreb, 18. 6. 1996. (IKA) – Tenth plenar Session of Croatian Bishops Conference, with Zagreb Archbishop Franjo Cardinal Kuharić as chairman, started at Archbishop#!s residence in Zagreb, this morning. All bishops, members of Croatian Bishops Conference, are present except Rijeka – Senj Archbishop Anton Tamarut, because of his illness, and Ðakovo – Srijem bishop Ćiril Kos. Apostolic nuncio in Republic Croatia Giulio Einaudi, permanent emissary of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishops Conference bishop Ratko Perić, new bishop of Kotor Ilijia Janjiæ, and Subotica bishop Janoš Penzeš are taking part to the Session as guests. The gathered bishops have sent a telegram to Sarajevo Archbishop Vinko Cardinal Puljić with their best wishes for soon recovering after the operation, they emphasize their prayers and wishes for Cardinal Puljić so he could “continue his pastoral service, with the same devotion, for the people of God, for his archdiocese and for the entire Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
During these three days of Session, there will be, among other subjects, the discussions on the life and the activity of priests at the Church in Croatia in spirit of the spiritual renewal in Croatia. Bishops will consider the actual subjects important for the life of the Church, including the necessity to define the directions of the work of chaplains at hospitals and at prisons.
According to the Statute of Croatian Bishops Conference, during the Session, there will be the elections for functionaries of Croatian Bishops Conference for some bodies of Croatian Bishops Conference.
On the first day of the Session of Croatian Bishops Conference, gathered bishops will altogether celebrate the Eucharist at 17.30 h, in Zagreb Cathedral.
