Don Branko Sbutega has Died

A Requiem Mass will be held on April 29 at 4:00 p.m., followed by burial at the cemetery in Dobrota, Kotor

Kotor, (IKA) – Don Branko Sbutega, the pastor of the Parish of St. Eustace in Dobrota, Boka Kotor, died today, April 27, the Feast of the Blessed Ozana of Kotor, in the parish rectory. The funeral will be held on Saturday, April 29. A Requiem Mass will be held at 4:00 p.m. in the cathedral, followed by burial at the cemetery of St. Eustace in Dobrota, which will be conducted by the Bishop Ilija Janjić of Kotor.

Don Branko Sbutega was born in 1952 in Kotor. After completing elementary and secondary school, he enrolled in the College of Medicine in Belgrade, where he studied for four semesters. After that, he studied philosophical subjects at the college of theology in Zagreb and then transferred to the college of theology in Vienna. He completed his theological studies at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on July 15, 1979, on the island of Gospa od Škrpjela. From then until his death, he was the pastor of the Parish of St. Eustace in Dobrota.

In 1991, he was assigned the task of opening a center to help refugees in Padua by the Croatian Conference of Bishops. In 1996, he returned to his parish. The Caritas of the Kotor Diocese was established in the year 1999. Don Branko is the author of many newspaper articles. This year, he published a book entitled Kurosawa’s World Anxiety.
