Expression of condolence from the president of the Croatian Parliament to Archbishop Bozanić on the occasion of the death of cardinal Franjo Kuharić

Zagreb, March 11, 2002 (IKA) — On the occasion of the death of Cardinal Franjo Kuharić, the president of the Croatian Parliament, Zlatko Tomčić, sent a telegram of condolence to Archbishop Josip Bozanić of Zagreb, president of the Croatian Conference of bishops.
“Today died a man who by virtue of his wisdom, constancy and steadfastness on the path of Christ will be a lasting light to all those who by actively honoring ethical and moral principles, see this as the only true measure of a genuinely happy human being in a genuinely happy community.
“Uniformly supporting the [right to] life and human rights of every person, despite great trials in his difficult life, he showed that it is possible to reach even a closed human heart, thereby revealing the meaning of God’s command and the foundation of Christian hope.
“Cardinal Kuharić has died but his love still lives for his people and homeland, to which he gave the most during its most severe trials. Like all great people, he continues his work in the good works of those who have been aroused in their humanity by his words, to make this world the way we would like it to be.
“I ask you, in the name of all the representatives of the Croatian Parliament, and in my name, to accept our most profound and most sincere condolences,” states the telegram of condolence from the president of the Croatian parliament to Archbishop Josip Bozanić.
