Zagreb, January 26, 1999 (IKA) – A plenary session of the Council of the Franciscan Communities in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina was held on January 25 at the Franciscan monastery in Zagreb. In addition to the provincials, participants also included the heads of the working bodies, the Franciscan lay order, the Franciscan Institute for the Culture of Peace and Franciscan Youth. At the session, considerable attention was devoted to finding the most effective ways to achieve goals, in terms of the Franciscan mission under the specific circumstances of the society and Church, in the areas of evangelization, education, social justice and the process of reconciliation within society and the Church. During the session, the participants became acquainted with the difficulties encountered by priests and nuns together with the Catholic faithful in Kosovo. It was decided that financial assistance would be collected from all the Franciscan communities for them. At a joint celebration of the Eucharistic, led by Fra Lucije Jagec, president of the Council, there was prayer for peace in Kosovo, Africa and in all the areas where it is needed.
