Memorial Plaque to Franjo Petrić Unveiled in Rome

Rome, (IKA) – On February 7, 1597, Franjo Petrić, one of the greatest Croatian philosophers, died in Rome. He was born on April 25, 1529 in Cres and was buried in the Church of St. Onofrio in Rome, where on the afternoon of February 7 of this year the president of the Pontifical Commission for the Vatican City State, Giovanni Lajolo, together with the president of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Milan Moguš, unveiled a memorial plaque in honor of this great thinker, as reported by the Croatian program of Radio Vatican.
After the ceremony, which was organized by the Croatian Embassy in the Vatican at the Sovereign of the Order of the Knights of Malta, headed by Ambassador Emilio Marin, and attended by numerous distinguished guests, the rector of the Croatian Pontifical Office of St. Jerome, Msgr. Jure Bogdan, conducted the Liturgy of the Word.
