Message from the bishops of the Croatian Conference of Bishops to parents, children and young people on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of religious instruction in public schools, in anticipation of the Year of Faith

The Bishops of both Churches encourage all church, state and civil institutions at all levels to work tirelessly to eliminate the consequences of war, in order to alleviate the suffering of all the afflicted. They support all efforts concerning the return of all refugees and displaced persons to their homes and the exercise of their human and religious rights.

The Archbishop of Krakow, Cardinal Dziwisz, presented a relic of the Blessed John Paul II, a vial containing the blood of the beatified Pope, to the Archbishop of Zagreb and the Zagreb Church

The program in Zagreb will include meetings with the highest officials of the Catholic Church in Croatia and government representatives.

They touched upon a range of questions and topics from daily sociopolitical life and discussed the contribution, roles and tasks of the Catholic Church in our region, particularly regarding ecumenical dialogue and the contribution by the Catholic Church to peace and reconciliation.

The Commission expressed concern over the raising of energy prices and utility fees, especially water, which is a basic prerequisite for life, and disagreement with the public diminishing of the symbolic value of Bleiburg.

"The truth has become the greatest victim of today's world order at all levels," cautioned Bishop Ante Ivas at the Bleiburg Field.
