Zadar, (IKA) – Pope John Paul II thanked Croatia for the welcome he received and
then bestowed his apostolic blessing at the Forum in Zadar.
“I thank all the bishops who welcomed and escorted me in their local Churches, and marvel at their vitality and apostolic zeal. These moments of communion are in my heart. I thank the Croatian authorities, especially the President of the Republic. I am grateful for all the effort invested in the preparation for my visit. I also thank those in charge of security, media professionals, and all who worked together to make this visit a complete success. Thank you, beloved people of Croatia, who welcomed me with open arms and hearts on the streets of Dalmatia, Slavonia and Kvarner. I remember your suffering, brought on by war, that is still visible on your faces and reflected in your lives. I am close to all who endure the tragic consequences of war. Nonetheless, I know your strength, your courage and your hope. I am sure that persevering efforts will allow you to see better days. Youth of Croatia, thanks to you, too. May God bless the youth of Croatia. God bless the land of Croatia.”
