Program for the Pilgrimage by Priests of the Zagreb Archdiocese to Stara Gradiška, Jasenovac and Petrinja

Zagreb, (IKA) – On Thursday, September 24, the archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, together with the auxiliary bishops of Zagreb, will conduct a pilgrimage of priests of the Zagreb Archdiocese.

The pilgrimage will first stop in Stara Gradiška at 9 a.m. After a tour of the prison complex and suitable prayers with intentions, they will visit the building site of the memorial church.
At noon, there will be prayer of the Terce and a homily in the parish church in Jasenovac, after which the pilgrims will visit the Jasenovac Memorial Area. At 4:30 p.m., the pilgrimage will conclude with the celebration of the Mass in the parish church in Petrinja.

During the pilgrimage by priests of the Zagreb Archdiose to Stara Stara Gradiška, Jasenovac and Petrinja, there will be particular remembrance of the holy priests whose sacrifice and testimony of fidelity to Christ and the Church, despite the burden of various adversities during the past, provide genuine inspiration to new generations, within the framework of the Year for Priests of the Zagreb Archdiocese. Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated the Year for Priests on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, June 19, 2009, while presiding at the Second Vespers in the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome. On the same day, while presiding at the celebration of the Eucharist in the chapel of the Archdiocesan Theological Seminary, Archbishop Cardinal Josip Bozanić inaugurated the Year for Priests in the Zagreb Archdiocese.

At all the aforementioned pilgrimage destinations, written copies of the speeches and homilies will be made available to journalists. The Public Relations Office of the Archdiocese of Zagreb has announced that neither press conferences nor statements are planned at the pilgrimage destinations.
