Report from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Caritas meeting

Freiburg, 27. 3. 1996. (IKA) – A seminar was held for the participants of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishops#! Conference Caritas from 18th to 22nd March at the center of German Caritas in Freiburg. Directors and close cooperators of Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka Caritas and of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishops#! Conference central office of Caritas participated the seminar, director of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishops#! Conference Caritas dr. Miljenko Aničić reported today. A report has been given for public from the seminar in which it was emphasized-that this was the first meeting of this profile of Caritas cooperators in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There were discussions about the concrete actions for helping the people. “Opposite to the opinion that the phase of the #!emergency help#! is over, what was our work#!s essential direction, will end when the war is over, we think that this kind of help will be necessary for some time in the future. It is also important to act with selectivity, having in mind some territories and some groups of population (specially those who have returned)”, is in the report. Participants of the seminar have concluded that the priorities of Caritas activities are the help for the renewal of the infrastructure of the places where the refugees and displaced persons are going to return, social care for the old, ill and disabled persons, and the renewal of cattle fund and of the small industry. The heads and the cooperators of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bishops#! Conference Caritas sent from the meeting an application to all foreign donators asking them to continue to send the help to the population jeopardized by the war.
