Scheduled Croatian Television (HTV) Coverage of the Pope’s Forthcoming Visit to Croatia

HTV will broadcast coverage of the third visit by the Holy Father to Croatia on Channel 1 and the Satellite Channel

Zagreb, (IKA) – On Tuesday, June 3, at 8:05 p.m., distinguished guests from public and Church life will discuss the forthcoming third pastoral visit by Pope John Paul II to Croatia on the television program Forum. The guests in the HTV Zagreb studio will be the general secretary of the Croatian Conference of Bishops, Msgr. Vjekoslav Huzjak, Ph.D., the deputy premier of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Dr. Goran Granić, and the head of the police forces, Ranko Ostojić, who will be joined from the HTV Rijeka studio by Archbishop Ivan Devčić of Rijeka.

On Wednesday, June 4, at 8:00 p.m., there will be a discussion of the Pope’s messages to the cities and the world on the program Znakovi vremena (Signs of the Times).

On Thursday, June 5, at 4:45 p.m., live HTV coverage will begin of the welcoming ceremonies for Pope John Paul II at the airport on the island of Krk, where the Holy Father is scheduled to land at 5:00 p.m. The Pope will be welcomed by his host, Archbishop Ivan Devčić of Rijeka, and the President of the Republic of Croatia, Stjepan Mesić. The Pope will then greet the other Croatian bishops and Government officials present.
At 5:30 p.m., there will be live coverage of the Pope’s welcome in Rijeka as he passes through the city streets toward the residence at the theological seminary.

On Friday, June 6, at 9:30 a.m., a documentary will be broadcast on the future Croatian blessed one, Marija od Propetog Isusa Petković (Mary of Jesus Crucified Petković), filmed by Nino Lovčević in collaboration with Neno Kužina.
At 10:30 a.m., live HTV coverage will begin of the Holy Father’s arrival at Gruž Harbor in Dubrovnik and the celebration of the Mass, during which the Pope will beatify Mary of Jesus Crucified Petković (Marija od Propetog Isusa Petković).
At 5:30 p.m., HTV coverage will begin of the Holy Father’s drive through Stradun, the main thoroughfare of the Old City of Dubrovnik, where he will release doves of peace in front of the Church of St. Blaise (sv. Vlaho) and greet the local populace.

On Saturday, June 7 at 10:15 a.m., live coverage will begin of the Pope’s arrival at the Čepin Sports Airport near Osijek, for the celebration of the Eucharist at 10:45 a.m.

On Sunday, June 8, live coverage will begin at 9:15 a.m. of the Mass to be celebrated by the Holy Father at the Delta in Rijeka. At noon, the Pope will pray the Angelus and issue a message to the world.
At 1:15 p.m., there will be a live broadcast of the program Mir i dobro (Peace and Good) from the Rijeka HTV Studio.
At 6:00 p.m., live coverage will begin of the pilgrimage by Pope John Paul II to the Shrine of Our Lady of Trsat, where he will remain in private prayer at the altar with the miraculous picture of Our Lady.

On Monday, June 9 at 10:40 a.m., live coverage will begin of the Holy Father’s arrival in Zadar, where he will celebrate the Liturgy of the Word at the Forum in Zadar. It is here that the Pope will deliver his final remarks to Croatia.
At 12:15 p.m. the live coverage will begin of the farewell ceremonies at the airport in Zadar, which will be attended by all the Croatian bishops and the highest government officials. No formal speeches are planned for this brief ceremony.
