Statement by msgr. Ilija Janjić, newly appointed bishop of Kotor

Kotor, March 11, 1996 (IKA) – Msgr. Ilija Janjic, the newly appointedbishop of Kotor, stated that he was surprised by his appointment and thathe will try to perform his new function as faithfully as possible to thebest of his ability, with the intercession and assistance of St. Tryphonthe Martyr, the Blessed Gracia and Ozana, St. Leopold Bogdan Mandic andthe Servant of God Ana Marija Marovic. In a statement to IKA, Msgr. Janjic said that it was difficult tospeak of the significance of this event for Croats and Catholics in BokaKotorska and the Kotor Diocese. It depends upon the political situationbut it is necessary to have national pride.
