The Ambassador of Qatar Served Patrons of the Soup Kitchen of the Sisters of Charity

Zagreb

Zagreb, (IKA) – The Mother House of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in Zagreb was visited on December 22 by the Ambassador of Qatar to Croatia, Her Excellency Sheikah Moza Al-Thani. The hosts were the superior general and provincial superior of the order.
The first part of the meeting took place at the soup kitchen, where the patrons honored the distinguished guest with a song and recital. Then the superior general greeted the guest and all those present, emphasizing the beauty of giving, especially to those most in need. The ambassador responded with a short talk, in which she expressed her delight with everything she had seen during this encounter, especially the atmosphere. After the blessing, the ambassador personally served lunch to the patrons of the soup kitchen, handing out lunch packets that she had previously ordered herself and brought with her. Approximately 120 patrons of the soup kitchen took part in the meal.
Then the ambassador briefly toured the convent Church of St. Vincent and admired its beauty, warmth and ornaments, especially the inlay that is an integral part of almost every piece of furniture in the church.
A visit to the Sveti Vinko Kindergarten was enhanced by the children’s hilarity and singing.
Following a tour of the convent, there was a brief meeting over tea and Christmas cakes, where they were joined by Archbishop Alessandro D’Errico, Apostolic Nuncio in the Republic of Croatia. The hostesses spoke about the current activities of the Sisters of Charity in Croatia and other countries, and discussed the great significance of such encounters. The visit concluded with Christmas and New Year greetings from the ambassador and the exchange of gifts.
