Zagreb (IKA) – For us Muslims, Pope John Paul II will be remembered for the fact that he did more than all the others to establish correct Catholic-Muslim relations, said the president of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Croatia, Mufti Ševko Omerbašić, in an expression of condolences on the occasion of the Pope’s death to the president of the Croatian Conference of Catholic Bishops, Cardinal Josip Bozanić.
He pointed out that Muslims in Croatia recall the Pope’s visits to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina with profound respect and feelings of gratitude, on which occasions the Pope strongly spoke in favor of correct inter-religious relations.
Pope John Paul II is leaving his successor tremendous inheritance that entails obligations but it is also the greatest value and pride of the Catholic Church and Christianity in general, pointed out Mufti Omerbašić, conveying to Cardinal Bozanić his most sincere condolences and expressing his sympathy with Catholics at these painful moments.
