The President of the Republic of Croatia recalled her meeting with the Holy Father and repeated her invitation for Pope Francis to visit the Republic of Croatia, expressing the hope that this could be possible in the near future, and mentioned that the Croatian nation would particularly rejoice if this could be in the context of the canonization of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac.
Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin spoke of the role of the Republic of Croatia in promoting the stability and European perspectives of its neighboring countries in Southeastern Europe. Both sides expressed concern about the position of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressing the need for equality among all the three constituent nations in order to ensure that Croats can remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
