The Third Day of the Plenary Assembly of the CCEE in Zagreb

Zagreb, (IKA) – On October 2, the third day of the Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) began with a celebration of the Mass and Morning Prayer by the participants, led by the Vice President of the CCEE, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, Archbishop of Zagreb, according to the Press Office of the Archdiocese of Zagreb.

The working day of the Plenary Assembly began at 9:30 a.m. on the topic of Europe and Policies. The Relationship between the Holy See and the European Union was discussed by the Apostolic Nuncio at the European Union, Msgr. André Dupuis; the Relationship between the Church and the European Union was presented by the Secretary General of the Commission of Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union (COMECE), Msgr. Piotr Mazurkiewicz; and the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Msgr. Aldo Giordano, spoke about the Council of Europe.
At the working session, the participants discussed the issue of incidents of discrimination and intolerance toward Christians in Europe and the topic “Roma in Europe – Pastoral Challenges and Political Problems.”

The second part of the working session continued at 11:30 a.m. on the topics of “The Challenges of Sects,” presented by Msgr. Petro Malchuk; World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, presented by the Director of Communications for WYD 2011 in Madrid, Yago de la Cierva; and a discussion on “The European Portal and Intranet.”

The afternoon working session continued with a review of the activity of the CCEE and its Commissions in 2009/2010, and the adoption of the program for 2011.
