Zadar Archbishop#!s statement by the occasion of Orthodox church mining

Zadar, 31. 8. 1996. (IKA) – Zadar Archbishop Ivan Prenđa gave a statement by the occasion of Orthodox church of St. Sunday mining in Gornji Karin (on Friday, 23rd August). We are citing the complete statement:
“We were informed that the church of St. Sunday in Gornji Karin had been undermined. We were surprised by that news. There are no Orthodox sacral objects at these territories that had been demolished during the military action of Croatian Army called “Oluja”. Now, when it is peaceful, such thing had happened. By that occasion, I would like to say: The Church has always taught and emphasized during all years of war not to do anything wrong and harm neither to persons, nor to property, even if somebody has done it or does to us. The question is: who needed this? Isn#!t it one of the attacks at the reputation and honor of Croatian people and Croatian State in front of the World? That act is for regret. That is an dishonorable act, violence over the sacral objects that can not be excused by anything and has to be condemned”.
