The Archbishop of Zagreb Cardinal Franjo Kuharić sent a letter to the bishop of Banja Luka Franjo Komarica, informing him on the actual situation in Western Slavonia

"It is impossible to comprehend the indifference and inertia of the domestic and international politicians with the greatest responsibility who despite knowing what is happening to the innocent and peace loving civilians in this territory, have failed to take effective action to stop the ongoing serious crimes against humanity. The mass media, by failing to inform the public, have greatly assisted those who commit evil and violence, allowing them to continue unhindered and unpunished".
