Statement by the provincial of the croatian capuchin province of st. Leopold Mandić on the occasion of the death of father Tomislav Šagi-Bunić

Zagreb, July 22, 1999 (IKA) — On the occasion of the death of Father Tomislav Janko Šagi-Bunić, the provincial of the Croatian Capuchin Province of St. Leopold Mandić, Father Jure Šarčevic, issued a statement to the Croatian Catholic Press Agency (IKA) today, July 21, in which he emphasized that Father Šagi-Bunić was a world renown scholar of christology and patrology, who was exceptionally highly regarded in theological and scholarly circles. Provincial Šarčević said: “Regarding our life and work together in the province, he was the spiritual father and inspiration of us all, attracting us with his priestly and theological breadth and erudition. He always found a kind word for everyone and orientation in every situation. He was the embodiment of the Franciscan Capuchin order.”
Funeral services for Father Tomislav Šagi-Bunić will be held on Friday, July 23, at 5:10 p.m. at the Mirogoj Cemetery. His earthly remains will be placed in the Capuchin grave. A Requiem Mass following the funeral will be conducted at the Church of Christ the King at the Mirogoj Cemetery.
