Koprivnica (IKA) – Representatives of the Islamic religious community, led by Mufti Ševko Omerbašić, the president of the Meshihat of the Islamic Community in Croatia, visited the food company Podravka on November 15. At the meeting, there was discussion of cooperation to date, the opening of markets for Podravka that are still insufficiently cultivated and the specific requirements in the manufacture of products intended for persons of the Islamic faith.

The Islamic religious community in Croatia considers Podravka to be a partner, with whom we have had many years of successful cooperation and in whom we have absolute confidence concerning manufacture according to our standards. Therefore, we should like this cooperation to be increased and to help Podravka as much as we can to enter markets in which the people are primarily of the Islamic faith, said Ef. Omerbašić.

This year, the Podravka Meat Division made a contract with the Islamic religious community on the control of production and the issue of Halal Certification for some of Podravka’s products. Halal Certification is issued at the beginning of the year. It certifies that the production processes and products meet the food standards of persons of the Islamic faith. Halal Certification was presented to Podravka by representatives of the Meshihat of the Islamic religious community in Croatia, which is authorized to issue such certification in the territory of Croatia.
