GIFTS FOR THE POPE IN ŽNJAN AND SPLIT

Split, October 3, 1998 (IKA) — During the Solemn Mass to be celebrated on October 4 by the Holy Father on the outskirts the city of Split in Žnjan, he will be presented with gifts: a scale model of an 11th century Croatian boat — Condura Croatia, and a monetary gift for the needy. A large number of gifts will also be exhibited in the Palace of the Archbishop where the Pope will be in residence while visiting Split. Among the gifts on exhibition will be a doll in a folk costume from the County of Split-Dalmatia, a photograph of the Cathedral of St. Lawrence from the City of Trogir, a copy of the deed of the Croatian ruler Trpimir from the Municipality of Kaštela, a statue of Our Lady from the City of Solin, a large crucifix from the Association of Croatian Soldiers and the Military Ordinariate, a stained-glass polyptych depicting the history of the Church among the Croats from Josip Botteri Dini, a large painting from Milijada Barada, an oil painting from Fra Branko Periš, poetry illustrated with miniatures from Sister Marija of the Most Sacred Heart, a relief wood carving from Salesian fathers, lace made from agave filaments by the Benedictines of Hvar, a lace portrait of Our Lady from the Society of Croatian Women, a crucifix from the Parish of Kostana, lace from Ana Mošić, a mountaineering guide from the Ante Bedalov Mountaineering Society, a crucifix in a bottle from Marija Matijević, a book entitled “Čudotvorna Gospa Dubravička Majka Mira” [Our Miraculous Lady of Dubravice — Mother of Peace] from Fra Petar Klarić, monographs entitled “Liturgijsko srebro grada Splita” [Liturgical Silver of the City of Split] and “Dioklecijanova palača” [Diocletian#!s Palace] from Dra en Dominović, a book from the parish of Svih Svetih of Blato on the island of Korčula, a watercolor from Matija Šimun, an oil painting from Maganjić, an oil painting of St. Teresa from Dinko Šule, a wooden crucifix from Ivica Tomičić, a candle from the Crusader Association, stone candles from Croatian soldiers, a monograph about the City of Split from pupils of the Second Gymnasium of Split, a crucifix from Branko Grbić, a framed poem by the Holy Father from the Zvono Parents#!
